Richard Pollock, founder and CEO of Ener-Life, is an audiophile who traces his love of music back to a childhood challenged by ADHD, dyslexia and behavioural issues. Looking back, he knows music was consistently a soothing and connection-building force in his life, with the power to help him regulate emotions, focus on tasks, build friendships and even fall asleep at night (often to the Secret Policeman’s Ball).

As he grew, music continued to be an important influence. From participating in the mind-expanding adventure of following the Grateful Dead on their many sojourns across North America as a young man, to his discovery as the father of a new baby that the soulful harmonies and reggae beats of the Abyssinians were often the only thing that would soothe her colicky cries, music represents a touchstone for Richard, and a thread woven through the defining moments of his life. Richard believes in the power of music to heal, soothe and bind us together.
